Metal profile structures are becoming increasingly popular in construction and renovation applications. Designers and engineers choose aluminum because the metal is durable and can withstand heavy loads, while being very light and easy to use.
Special aluminum profiles, are used today both for the construction of some structures, for external finishing work, and for creating interiors in different styles. This profile is combined with various materials, whether metal, plastic, wood. It is especially often used in combination with composites.
Composite materials can boldly be called, materials of the future, as they are based on a matrix made of metal, polymer or ceramics. To increase the strength of the material, special threads or fibers are used. Plastic matrices can be reinforced with glass, boron and carbon fibers, while aluminum matrix is usually reinforced with steel or beryllium fibers. All this allows us to obtain a fairly durable product, which is used in industrial and civil construction, repair work, as well as aerospace, automotive, space technology and mining. Combining such durable and reliable materials with an aluminum profile means that the structure will last for many years without losing its original appearance.
Typically, special aluminum profiles include alloys of aluminum, magnesium, lithium and silicon. The profile is made using extrusion technology. Aluminum makes it lightweight and easy to transport and work with, regardless of size. Lithium improves casting properties, while magnesium and silicon add strength to aluminum profiles. In addition, thanks to this composition, aluminum special profiles can be easily cut, drilled and ground. During production, the profile undergoes heat treatment, which makes it more resistant to corrosion.
If you want to further strengthen special aluminum profiles, make them resistant to damage, you can subject them to the process of anodizing. This is an additional coating that significantly improves the properties of the original material. This makes the profile resistant to various types of mechanical damage, abrasions and scratches. Anodized aluminum profile is a smooth and even product, without any defects (stripes, dents). It is also possible to paint the aluminum profile in a different color. This is very convenient if you use the profile for exterior decoration or as a decorative element.
This type of special profile has many advantages. These include:
Durability and wear resistance.
Mechanical strength.
Plasticity - you can easily install the profile in any place.
Versatility - it is used in construction for window and door structures, insulating facades, erecting partitions, landscaping rooms and creating art and design objects.
Resistant to the external environment - does not change its properties under the influence of low temperatures, high humidity, or exposure to acids.
Environmentally friendly - does not contain any harmful chemicals. Safe for both the environment and humans.
Relatively inexpensive.
The most common profiles are completely closed hollow profile (square, round, triangular), open profile (U-shaped, T-shaped, L-shaped, H-shaped).
The method of manufacturing individual profiles can also vary. There are two methods of manufacturing aluminum profiles - cold-formed and press-formed. Cold-formed profiles are made from special aluminum strips, the thickness of which does not exceed 4 mm. The second type is formed by applying strong pressure to special pressing equipment. This type can be divided into subtypes: press-hardened profiles, aged and without heat treatment.
